Problem & Solution
Goal: Offer online training on integrated pest management for eco-friendly gardening.
Suggested approach: Scenario-based eLearning for safe experimentation with gardening methods.
Aim: Discourage harmful pesticides, educate on optimal gardening techniques.
Outcome: Learners understand consequences of choices for informed decision-making.
Text-Based Storyboard
Following initial discussion, collaborated with an educator (SME) to identify common incorrect actions.
Created a text format storyboard with a focus on integrated pest management's environmental impact.
Learner experiences positive outcome and advances on choosing correct actions.
Learner faces genuine consequences and can retry with a "try again" button for incorrect responses.
Learner can seek mentor assistance at any stage of the scenario before selecting an option.
Script approved and translated into Spanish for Dallas residents who speak the language.
Strategic Feedback
Learners receive support from a butterfly mentor, the Monarch.
Monarch butterfly icon in the top right corner provides guidance and supplementary information.
Butterfly logo on a motion path adds a touch of delight with gentle animation.
Gamification
Increased learner engagement with light gamification using vegetables in harvest baskets.
Culmination of learning: Learner gathers a wheelbarrow full of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.
